#5868: NAND selftest erases JFFS2 cleanmarkers
---------------------------------+------------------------------------------
Reporter: wmb at firmworks.com | Owner: wmb at firmworks.com
     Type: defect | Status: new
Priority: normal | Milestone: Never Assigned
Component: ofw - open firmware | Version:
 Keywords: | Verified: 0
 Blocking: | Blockedby:
---------------------------------+------------------------------------------
OFW's NAND FLASH selftest is nondestructive in that it saves the previous
data in blocks that it tests, and then restores the data after the test,
but for blocks that were already erased prior to the test, it neglects to
restore the cleanmarkers. This results in a slight JFFS2 slowdown.

One way to observe the problem is to use scan-nand (rocker-up), then test-
all (rocker-left), then scan-nand again. The second scan-nand will show
some black squares (erased without cleanmarker) amid the blue field
 (erased with cleanmarkers).
