Comment:

 Well, this ticket is really about many different issues.

 The underlying problem is that having consistent clipboard support in an
 OS is hard because requires the cooperation of the different software
 components (and maintainers).

 I think each separate issue should be reported as a separate ticket and
 assigned to the relevant component.

 #2005 was a totally different issue, just the clipboard palette being
 confused about the data in the clipping.
