 Jim - it was reported in 650 and 653. Rainbow isn't running in those
 builds. Hence it's not an active Rainbow problem.

 That being said, the difficulty sounds like one of D-Bus configuration.
 What service provides interface 'org.gnome.GConf.Database'? Is it supposed
 to be started by bus activation? (If so, is the configuration file in
 /etc/dbus-1/<bus>.d present and correct? If not, how is it started?) Does
 the service providing 'org.gnome.GConf.Database' actually provide a method
 named 'LookupExtended' with signature 'ssb'? Finally, can you access this
 method manually with the 'dbus-send' command?

 Answering these questions will almost certainly reveal the proximate cause
 of the error. Alternately, one might wonder what NewsReader is using GConf
 for...
