 More recent analysis is needed on startup processes for MP machines. Are
 several commands/scripts taking awhile to time out?  Can Mesh scan wait
 until Journal is fully loaded? (or until Neighborhood view is activated ?)

 Lots of questions, no certain answers...

 Can some basic 'quick tests' be substituted for several 'longer more
 detailed tests' (which could be parallelized?) ?
