 I have just rebooted with the circle key.What this process did was
 Issue message to unpress the circle key to continue. The outcome of this
 is that:

 The OS is back to 653 - I had to use ALT CTL three-dot to do this as the
 mouse is completely eratic. Computer not unusable.

 The journal is very full with the last 100 or so entries being the
 terminal all at the same time.
