 I do not have wireless at home.  My wired ethernet connects to the
 internet through a proxy system.  By patching server_plugin.py (to specify
 my home proxy), I was able to send packets to the jabber server over my
 wired connection.  However, (693) gabble on my G1G1 does not manage to
 converse with olpc.collabora.co.uk over the wired connection.

 I am *unable* to produce a consistent telepathy-gabble.log:

 1)  Most often, the log (ugly) ends without showing anything interesting.
 (It is possible this reflects the *server* not communicating.)

 2)  I have one log (bad) which shows gabble closing with an error.

 3)  I have one log (good) showing a *correct* session with the server.
 This was obtained over __wireless__ (provided by an establishment).
