I have spent about 20 minutes searching for PDFs in google and trying them
in the XO. All of them displayed correctly at 190-250% zoom and memory
usage as reported by top was always below 30%. The reading experience
seemed good to me.
I'm sure we have problems displaying some PDFs, as I'm sure Acrobat Reader
also has in some corner cases. Do you think the current Read is unsuitable
to ship because you are finding many books that cannot be read?
What worries me is the possibility of Read not being able to display an
important category of PDFs. Can you give a try at characterizing the pdfs
that display badly? Have big images embedded, a very big page size, are
zoomed a lot, etc.
Also, what hardware are you using? Do you have any other activities
running along Read?
