 I know that Java is a restricted format, and not part of the XO core, but
 its use is ubiquitous.

 On the 'Restricted Formats' page on the wiki, it is recommended to use jre
 1.5.0_13.

 With this installed, the Browse activity fails to load it. I get the
 following error in the Log Viewer activity with either jre or jdk
 1.5.0_13:

 LoadPlugin: failed to initialize shared library libXt.so [libXt.so: cannot
 open shared object file: No such file or directory]

 LoadPlugin: failed to initialize shared library libXext.so [libXext.so:
 cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory]

 LoadPlugin: failed to initialize shared library
 /usr/java/jre1.5.0_13/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so
 [/usr/java/jre1.5.0_13/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so: undefined
 symbol: _ZTVN10__cxxabiv121__vmi_class_type_infoE]

 What is interesting is that the Java install works as Java (as opposed to
 the plugin), and that even the plugin works with a 'normal' Firefox as
 opposed to the Browse activity. This is on a XO with Build 656.
