Comment:

 I'm in agreement here in principle.  However, you're hit upon a very
 interesting problem, which is how to make a button insensitive while
 allowing access to its secondary options.  This seems like a tough one to
 tackle, and bears some further discussion.  Ben, Marco, do you have any
 ideas here on how this could even be accomplished?
