Comment(by IainDavidson):

 After a 'olpc-update' to Joyride.1680, rebooted...  and Wifi is un-
 detected again.
 Running off battery currently at 75%.

 However, 2nd 'reboot' brought Wifi back, and auto-re-connected to regular
 A.P just fine.
 (Sorry forgot to info before the reboot)
