Some schools will want to update a large number of laptops (all students
and teachres) with a custom set of bundles, which might total a few
 hundred megabytes in size.

Supporting this sort of update over the network will be slow and
unreliable. Doing it by hand with a USB key can be clumsy as well, to the
extent that it requires finding the right bundles by hand and installing
 them one by one.

We have no current way to install a collection of bundles by selecting a
single file on a usb key; nor a way to autoinstall bundles that are stored
in a special directory on the key. Scott and Michael and I have been
discussing how this could be done; but agree that it can make a
significant difference to how long it takes to update a large set of
 machines.
