#6421: Wiki "allowed memory size exhausted" error (for 1-line page)
---------------------------+------------------------------------------------
 Reporter:  mchua          |       Owner:  jg
     Type:  defect         |      Status:  new

---------------------------+------------------------------------------------
 Initially reported by Iain Davidson.

 To reproduce: Try to edit and save this page.

 http://wiki.laptop.org/index.php?title=Help:Contents/translations&action=edit&undoafter=104094&undo=104488

 Confirmed by mchua: after trying small edits in several different sections
 (including loading the wikipage directly and editing via the "Edit" tab
 rather than the link provided) I get this error:

 <snip>

 Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 125829120 bytes exhausted (tried to
 allocate 206721 bytes) in /home/www/wiki.laptop.org/includes/Parser.php on
 line 2717

 </snip>

 The page in question has one fairly short line of text.

 Iain D. reported back later: "I've now seen the same error on other pages.
 Specifically on '/Translate' pages. It might be connected to non-english
 characters in the page ??? (And why some spam bots are removing some of
 the original ch/jpcharacters....)"

 When asked about possible causes, SJ replied: "Not sure. it may be that
 a) we're running out of memory on the machine, and b) there's a script
 related to those charsets that takes up a decent chunk which sometimes
 runs into this problem..."
