Comment:

 This ticket is getting long in the tooth -- I'll close it, on the
 presumption that the 8.2 release will *not* be fixed for this situation.

 Don't know if the discrepancy noted by pgf has been dealt with -- but the
 behavior of the 0.83 Joyrides is different from what caused me to
 originally write #8343.  [If need be, I seem reliably to be able to
 manually connect the wired ethernet when using 26xx Joyrides, and the XOs
 are "seeing" each other (through the ethernet to which they are
 attached).]
