Currently we have language projects for:

 "English" as "en"
 https://dev.laptop.org/translate/en/

 and English (US), as 'en_US"
 https://dev.laptop.org/translate/en_US/

and English (South African) as en_ZA
 https://dev.laptop.org/translate/en_ZA/

"en" is NOT "en_UK" (e.g. look at spelling of "color/colour"), but in
reality (due to US-enriched contributor base) "en" is de facto "en_US".
If we want to have an "en_UK" variant, it should be labelled as such and
an "en_US" is probably redundant, but certainly fine; however if we keep
"en_US", then having simply "en" can create confusion.

For example of such confusion see https://dev.laptop.org/ticket/6682
