 Tried with the graphic Control Panel in 2583.  *Was* able to save the
 color change I had made to the XO (self) icon.  [Though the 'About Me'
 panel only gave me two choices: (1) restart now (2) don't restart - your
 change will be lost.  No 'later' choice.]
