someone I know recently recieved a G1G2V2 708-loaded laptop that had
borked software (internal RT#25262), after much help from me and other
#olpc-help folks, and after getting that person to do a clean install this
person had the same symptoms-- that of being able to install applications
and them not showing up. It was this hours of trying 'everything I could
think of' that lead me to suggest pgf to check the ownership. I hope this
fix can address RT#25262 and other G1G1V2 708 users -- it would leave a
bad impression if xmas 2008 XOs did not function.
