 if the control panel is up, it's possible to alt-tab away from it to get
 to an activity.  (in my case, i was trying to find the URL of an activity
 group, to enter into the software updater.)

 having done so, however, one can't alt-tab back.  furthermore, the frame
 is no longer accessible with the mouse -- the keyboard must be used to
 return to the home view (and the still-open control panel).
