 I will run olpc-update with -v next time and pipe the output to a file.
 This should provide enough info about where the crash occurs. I also wrote
 up a script to log top to a file every 5 seconds. Does this sound like
 enough memory info?

 Also, I can tell you that free generally reports ~40 MB of free memory
 before I run olpc-update.
