Comment(by cscott):

 Can I get an actual memory usage profile from a machine showing this
 problem, just before it crashes?  I can't tell if the root cause is that
 Browse (say) is leaking, and sometimes olpc-update pushes the whole system
 over the edge, or if olpc-update really is taking an abnormal amount of
 memory itself (I don't think that it is).
