 I thought this might work around the issue:

 ln -s /home/olpc /versions/run/38d78f132879709f303ae0eff5c8cf7e/home/
 }}}
 but even though the /proc/1061/fd/2 symlink then appears to work for root,
 Etoys still can't open /dev/stderr.

 Apparently because it could not even write to
 /home/olpc/.sugar/default/logs/org.vpri.EtoysActivity-1.log because that
 is owned by the olpc user.

 I guess the /versions/... prefix is a red herring then. I'm out of ideas
 on how to make this work :(
