Comment(by Eben):
I refer everyone to this little rant regarding the perils of adding too
many shutdown-esque options:
http://www.joelonsoftware.com/items/2006/11/21.html
Right now we have shutdown (needed) and restart (questionable). I'm not
sure if we really need restart or not, since most of the time, as
mentioned in the article, this will be prompted for when necessary anyway.
Otherwise, pushing the button to turn it back on isn't a big deal. We
don't need sleep/hibernate, since our extensive power management will be
doing everything it can for us already. I don't think we should be
offering log-off with only one user, and we of course can't lock since the
system assumes no passwords. If, later on, we add multiple user support
then I think we should add one single option more, which is a switch-user
option.
What good is log-off anyway if there is no password protection? Isn't the
purpose of logging out to prevent others from accessing your account?
