 Are you suggesting we should modify the DS to re-add the entries that
 failed to be added to the xapian index? Or that we should change it to
 read metadata from the json files instead of from the xapian index?

 Either of these options seem suicidal to me for 8.2.0, but you are welcome
 to prove me wrong, as always. Just please make sure we don't end up
 loosing more data at the end.
