Comment(by Eben):

 Actually, showing the Frame is meant to speed up the alt-tabbing process.
 The context-switch from activity to activity takes a long time - long
 enough to be quite frustrating if you need to tab past 2 or 3 activities
 to get to the one you want. When we show the Frame, we don't make ''any''
 context switch until the selection has rested on an activity icon for a
 brief period or the user releases the tabbing keys. This makes it
 possible to quickly tab past as many activities as necessary, pausing on
 those of interest to see what they are, and stopping on the one you want
 to minimize the overall number of context switches. Perhaps some
 optimization could still be done here.

 Regarding the palettes, an initial attempt at tabbing showed them, and I
 didn't really like it. It made tabbing slower, and was less useful than
 actually rendering the activity in place (making the context switch),
 which is actually a benefit of using the Frame as an activity switcher in
 the first place. Perhaps we could do both, but I would suggest speed
 improvements on the current implementation myself.
