Comment:

 Well, you should make sure that at least a full school year worth of
 entries has passed that has the new timestamp property on all entries.
 That means you need to deprecate using mtime about two releases in
 advance. Since it has not been deprecated in 8.2 you cannot rely on all
 activities having switched from mtime to timestamp.

 For example, Etoys currently does only create the mtime property (and no
 ctime or timestamp). This could still be fixed for 8.2 (file a blocker
 against Etoys in that case).

 But generally, we do need some advance notice of deprecations. I only
 accidentally happened to see discussing this issue on IRC. Also, the
 [http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Low-level_Activity_API#Meta_Data API doc] does
 not mention the importance of either property.
