I'm going to attach a patch that fixes this. It's a little invasive code
wise and, obviously, it's very invasive ABI wise. I can think of a few

1 Land it on master only and apply it to the Fedora 0.82 packages. This
would give Sugar distributions which are already quite mature (Ubuntu) six
months to adapt to the changes.
2 Land it on sucrose-0.82 and ask the Ubuntu guys to fix their packages.
3 Base the Fedora packages on 0.83.
4 Land it on sucrose-0.82 but keep compatibility with the old
installation logic there. They have a different interface so it can be
 done quite easily.

I haven't thought about it much but I tend to prefer 4.
