#8089: /dev/hwrng isn't random.

Reporter: cscott | Owner: dilinger
Type: defect | Status: new
Priority: normal | Milestone: 8.2.0 (was Update.2)
Component: kernel | Version: not specified
Keywords: blocks?:8.2.0 | Next_action: never set

Blocking: 8024 |
---------------------------+------------------------------------------------
On joyride-2301, 'head -c 100 /dev/hwrng' returns entirely 0xFF bytes.
This is not random!
This seems to be the root cause of #8024, since this causes our early-boot
seeding of /dev/random to be ineffective, and hence causes requests for
bytes from /dev/random to block.
