 We are not changing the hardware.  Period.  This is a simple and well-
 placed fix to bring the software into agreement with the hardware.

 a new GUI element which allows for selection of an absolute rotation,
 rather than a relative 90 degree rotation action with each press.  This
 new design will obsolete this ticket.

 This is nice, but, out of curiosity, what exactly is the use-case that
 such non-90-degree rotations are envisioned for?
