 Confirmed, I tried again with Measure-18 in joyride-2301.  It launched
 grey with no grid nor squiggle, but after change away and return, the grid
 appears with a squiggle that responds to my whistling.  I did not need to
 fiddle with alsamixer. Progress is nice, thanks all.
