 Looks like the little scrolling text on the top left corner under the
 banner is taking most CPU. It has a fading effect.

 80% of time X is inside ProcRenderDispatch, and 70% in ExaCheckComposite.

 16% in exaDoMoveOutPixmap, where all time goes to memcpy.

 54% in pixman_composite_rect_general.

 Attached is a profile that can be viewed with sysprof.
