 Acoustic measure will sometimes (50% of the time?) lock up hard _one_ of
 the machines. This is when both sides succeed in grabbing the audio device
 (so hitting #7994 masks this bug).

 The last thing in the log of both machines (as collected via tail -f over
 ssh) is

    Recording raw data '/path/to/file.wav...'

 Naturally there may be more output that we are failing to get due to the
 lockup.

 Could be related to other audio lockups we've seen - #7989


 This is on joyride-2301 with Distance-12.xo
