Comment:

Okay -- I think I found where I went wrong. The Browse page on the wiki
shows the method of opening in Write from the Journal, but the images are
old and from pre-joyride builds, so the layout of the Journal is different
in the builds I've encountered this issue on.

The menu I needed was on the left-hand side (not the right as in the
images), and the drop-down menu for the file's icon (the one I used)
didn't provide options either -- the source of my confusion.

In any case, files downloaded from the "View Source" command should have
their default MIME-type set to Write (or some equivalent) rather than
Browse. If a user is trying to view the source of a page, they sure don't
want to just open up the file and have it render as a webpage -- they
wouldn't be trying to view the source if they wanted that!

 Closing the ticket.
