 Hmm, so my better behavior with the scheduler priority change was just
 coincidental. We are still seeing better behaviour with the different
 kernel scheduler, but it'd be nice if we can use the RR scheduling.

 Could we have csound run setuid user and see if just having it run RR
 helps. Would this break our security model?
