words about the risks and rewards?
The risk, as always, is that one of the fixes/improvements broke something
that used to work. That's hard to quantify.
The rewards are:
a) fixes for a suite of stuff that is known to be broken in q2e12, notably
this ticket (7572), and also #6967 (develop.sig on external device), #7702
(SD card hang), #7725 (SD), #7774 (USB failure), #7867 (setenv problem),
#7880 (NAND partitions)
b) Inclusion of the latest (believed to be fully working) XP boot support
c) Fix for a problem that prevented entering OFW (for diag purposes) from
the Linux kernel
d) Some mostly-minor new features
e) A solid base for moving forward, so we don't have to keep cherrypicking
