 1] Hover on lips icon in device tray and wait for palette to pop up.
 Change the rate, pitch and volume. Now check
 /home/olpc/./speechd/speechd.conf if DefaultRate, DefaultPitch,
 DefaultVolume have been changed to new values or not.

 2] Select some text in sugar then click on lips icon in device tray. You
 should hear the speech output for the text that you highlighted.

 3] Click on the lips icon in device tray without highlighting any text.
 You should hear "Speak Selected Text"
