 Oh I checked and know why I have been confused. tp-glib actually
 implements this in tp_debug_divert_messages () but Gabble and Salut
 doesn't use it yet. I'll propose patches to do it.

 Anyway, I'm not convince opening the file in append mode is always a good
 idea. Most of people (including developpers testing their code) are only
 interested in the last session of the CM. Not purging the log file at each
 restart by default would make log files a lot bigger and so harder to
 understand.
