constituents outside of the primary one (not the kids in Peru, but sales
people, implementors, partners, and many people who are familiar with
linux, windows, or mac computers)
"not the kids in Peru" because they were unaware of more usable
alternatives
It is not right to conclude that the kids in Peru would prefer Sugar over
a normal desktop. They have not been allowed to know about all the non-
Sugar software. They have not been allowed to know that normal computers
don't suffer from journal spam. They have not been allowed to enjoy the
performance that the rest of us had back in 1995.
Until everybody at OLPC uses **only** Sugar (at work, at home, for email,
for graphics work, for programming...), you're giving a really gross
message: "I can't bear to use this, but it's good enough for other
people." It's like eating health food while you give a Happy Meal to your
kids.
> * The G1G1 program is going to be even bigger and the fund raising that
we will get from that will be very important to the program and provide
many more laptops that run sugar to the kids. We need to pick out one or
two features for G1G1. This is the one that Chuck and Nicholas are
recommending.
The kids in Peru will love it.
