Comment:

 What I discovered so far:

 - .olpc.store/index/config is corrupted, contains the beginning of a JPEG
 photo.
 - the DS raises a exception because cannot interpret that file, but that
 error doesn't passes through dbus to the client, rather the DS is
 disconnected from the session bus.

 So, two issues:

 - the DS shouldn't stop working after failing to read an USB stick's
 index,
 - as that file is not strictly needed to read the index, should be
 regenerated instead.

 If someone could give a pointer for solving the D-Bus issue, would be most
 appreciated.
