Comment:

 After observing this behavior in a larger shared session, I noticed that
 the palette offset in pixels is actually 75''n'', where ''n'' represents
 the position of the XO from the top (0 indexed, of course).  In other
 words, the position of the palette is calculated as though each XO were
 150px tall, instead of 75px.

 This is a really bizarre placement bug; I think it's a high priority to
 fix since it's so blatantly incorrect.
