Comment:

 From a design standpoint, I think that we can embed a "preferences" option
 in the users XO (above reboot, shutdown).  This is the users identity, and
 seems the right thing associate with personal settings - things that
 determine how the XO works.

 As far as the design for the control panel itself, I imagine we'll want a
 fullscreen overlay (solid black, most likely), containing a number of tabs
 for the various aspects of the machine we want to control.  Obviously
 we'll need to review the list, prioritize, and organize a bit before we
 can really get that together.  We also need to design modal dialogs, as
 that might be the way the overlay is implemented.
