Comment:

 One another possibility perhaps worth discussing:

  1. on page load, Browse iterates through all the <object> and <embed>,
 calling the stop() method exposed by the plugin.
  2. Browse listens for clicks on top of the <object> and <embed> areas,
 and calls start().
  3. when Browse stops being the current activity, do 1 again.
  4. when Browse is again the current activity, restore the animations that
 were active?

 I'm not sure of the feasibility, would be good to know from gnash
 developers and someone with knowledge of mozilla internals.
