 Oh, I've just remembered. Some 10 minutes before the system becoming very
 slow, I had performed a "yum install recordmydesktop". Since it was the
 first time I used yum, it took a long time to download the available
 packages list, and somewhere along the final package install, the yum
 process probably took all the CPU for itself.
 This kind of dead-slow-freeze never happened to me before, so it must have
 probably been yum.
