Comment:

 A few more notes: I left the developer's console and just had the sugar
 home view for a few seconds; then started the developer's console and the
 time when I was in the home view, the CPU usage was down to zero. So now
 I'm wondering if this is only a developer's console anomoly.

 Changing the priority back down and changing ownership as it is most
 likely not the journal. Something is hogging the CPU on a cyclical basis
 and we need to know what this is.
