Comment:

 Alright, I take that back.  The second problem is that when we hit the
 brightness buttons and brightness goes to 0, userspace also turns on mono
 mode (by setting the sysfs 'output' attrib).  This is presumably done for
 readability.  OHM then proceeds to clobber the brightness setting without
 changing back to color mode.  So, both problems are in userspace.  Setting
 mono mode when brightness==0 is userland policy that should remain there.
