 If there is any problem with displaying an item in the journal, today you
 will get a blank page or journal freeze where you can't do anything to get
 back to the journal short of a reboot or sugar reboot.

 We should ensure that if an item can't be read, the 'back' button the
 journal still exists so you can at least go back to the journal's list.
