 Not sure why this happens, but the palette does not resize correctly. To
 reproduce hover over the journal while it is starting, and wait for it to
 start up completely. The "Starting..." text is replaced with "Journal" and
 the resume menu entry is shown. But the palette is not wide enough to fit
 the resume menu item.

 This is probably currently only a problem in the journal case, as in other
 cases the newly started activity will get activated automatically. (And
 there are probably no other palettes that change in this way.)
