Comment:

 Heh.  There are N color pickers on the Linux desktop, most of them bad.
 Worth an exploration to see what *not* to do.

 Simon or Reinier may be able to help implement.  But the first step is to
 design this, so I'm assigning it to Eben...

 To late to get this into Trial-3, but I'm putting it on that milestone so
 the design is done when we have resources to put into this.
