 Hm... it seems to notice failure in most cases but not all of them.
 Depends on exactly where the launched app fails I guess.

 Yeah, but there are lots of things that aren't documented for non-sugar-
 based activities, and the general rule is that sugar.activity's behavior
 is normative.

 But in this case, that behavior isn't sufficiently robust.
