 Yes, the problem is that the backup.tgz file is empty, indicating a
 failure to backup the files.
 Deleting the backup.tgz will "fix" the problem, but what I really need is
 details on the (uncaught?) backup failure in the first place.  Did you
 perhaps power-off in the middle of a backup?
