Comment(by uwog):

 Even when it runs only when idle, it would still consume more power than
 needed by starting and stopping all the time.

 About the memory usage: I think it will be under 10MB to have the whole of
 AbiWord loaded in memory and the daemon running. That's just guess though,
 and some profiling could certainly get it down. And ofcourse, you should
 only have it running while idle, not all the time.
