Comment:

 Let's get this in, hopefully it's good enough for Trial-3. For FRS we can
 evaluate the alternatives.

 With the current graphics I think the ring should be updated immediately
 upon switch, yeah. Maybe we can play with the visual details to be able to
 do it an async way (for example, making the empty ring appear first and
 then the wedges). Though if parsing in C (or the kernel thing) would solve
 the problem than I'd rather go that way.
